Description | *I have two bio classes, one from 11:00am - 12:15, the other from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. Thirty or forty minutes with each one of those classes would be wonderful, if possible.
Description: In our biology class, students will have gained an introduction to general cell structure. We then need to make the leap to particular cell types that form particular tissues. Bugs under the SEM seem like a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate this - eye, wing, hair, etc. My students get extensive experience with compound scopes in our lab and enjoy it - but have also shown strong interest in SEM technology. I 'tease' them with a general overview and pictures of the previously unseeable (atoms, molecules) early in the semester - and they would be extremely interested in getting 'hands-on' experience with the technology. |
