Bugscope Teamwell, the microscope shoots tiny electrons at the bugs, which don't really hurt the bug, rather the electrons knock off other electrons that are on the bug. the electrons fly off and are collected by a camera of some sorts

Bugscope Teamif we have to kill them, we freeze them. to them, it feels like they are going to sleep
Bugscope TeamAnd the sample -- all of the insects -- are inside the vacuum chamber. We are beaming electrons at the things we see.

Bugscope Teamwendy's puts some additive into their salt, which gives it a unique shape
Bugscope TeamWhoever makes their salt somehow causes it to have that cool substructure.

Description	We are studying the life cycle of butterflies. We are raising Painted Lady caterpillars and observing them until they become adults. I would like to show the class a butterfly, egg, and larva and pupa if that is possible. I would like them to can see their heads and observe the feeding behaviors of the insect. It would also be important for them to see they crysalis if at all possible. We are using hand lenses but seeing these creatures with your microscope will increase their understanding. I plan to bring the class to the computer lab and show them the Bugscope on our Smart Board. Thank you, Jo Ann
