| Description | I will use this unit to enhance my science unit on cells. In this unit, the students learn to use a microscope viewer to see pre-made animal cells. They will be able to see other types of microscopes. They will also be able to see parts of insects and see the cell parts more clearly. This lesson will help to prepare the students for the FCAT science test to be given to fifth grade for the first time this year. The learning in my classroom includes much cooperative learning. The students come from a low socio-economic area. The class is made of approximately 60% Hispanic (English speaking), 20% Haitian-Creole, and the remainder Caucasian. I am team-teaching with a fellow fifth grade teacher. Both of our classes will be involved. I will also invite two other fifth grades to my classroom to observe. All students will be able to view, as I will attach my computer to a video projector for everyone to view the computer on screen. |
