| Description | I am interested in participting in Bugscope again this year because of the enthusiasm it generated in my third-grade studetns last year at Hope Valley School. In addition, we are particularly interested in taking a look at the mosquito for there have been cases locally of the West Nile Virus. Last year we researched deer ticks and developed an extensive website on bugs. >http://www.chariho.k12.ri.us/hv/bugshome.html< We would like to continue our research to include mosquitoes since they are prevalent in this area. Since learning about insects is part of our third grade science curriculum, I feel students should have a greater understanding of the insects living in their environment. The knowledge we obtain, along with the data and images we gather will be placed onto our existing webpage so that other students can learn from our experiences. I will be working with one or more of our third grade teachers in one of the third grade classrooms for an hour or more integrating science, MI, and technology trhroughout the school year. This project will fit in perfectly for incorporating all three of these goals. |
