Project

Title Bugscope Project
Insects Spider, lady bug, butterfly, weevil, beetle, dragonfly, praying mantis, honey bee, earwig
Description Students learn about ecological feeding relationships, habitats and the niche concept. Students explore the movement of energy in ecosystems. Students collect one bug that they analyze, research and name using standard techniques. They then write up their findings in a formal report which identifies the bug's place in the ecosystem, their role and importance in the food web. We also use Bugscope photos for practicing observations and inferences as well as getting ideas for engineering and construction projects later in the year.

about Bugscope?
I have been a long time participant since 2006. I first heard about in the NSTA magazine and now I tell everyone I know how cool it is.
