Project

Title Parasites
Insects Fleas, ticks, and the oleander moth
Description My students will be studying different symbiotic relationships in their textbook. We have recently been using my video microscope to take a better look at insects and identify their genus (and sometimes species) and anatomy. Currently I am studying to be an entomologist at UF. I am hoping to incorporate the material I learn in my classes into what I teach. This year is primarily Biology with the 7th graders and Earth Science with the 6th graders. Both disciplines can be tied to insects and their affects on humans and the Earth. By using Bugscope, my students can see how their classroom environment can be connected to the real world and to working scientists. Real life application is always is one of my main priorities when forming my lessons. Thank you for considering my classroom. Best Regards, Christine Hummer
