- 3:51 pm
- Bugscope TeamYou know we are ready to roll, Alex.
- Bugscope Teamlet's roll!
- Bugscope TeamThis is the back of the head of another fruit fly. You can see at least one ocellus, which there are three of -- the sort of primitive eyes they have on top of their heads.
- Bugscope TeamOcelli are used, we think, for orientation with the sun and thus an ability to find direction.
- Bugscope TeamAnnie should be on in a minute to clarify things.
- Bugscope TeamYou.
- Bugscope TeamJust getting ready...
- Bugscope TeamI was just reading the other day, I have no idea where, that there are some nocturnal flies that have super-huge occelli to compensate for the dim light... of the moon I'd guess since the sun is gone
- Bugscope Teamoh. ocelli, that's interesting. my step dad tracked birds, and the whole idea is to try and figure out how they set their magnetic compass...
- Bugscope TeamDidn't he live down the street from Glenn?
- TeacherHi everyone! Bernie here. Sarah Scott middle school is here this afternoon. They have lots of questions for you!
- 3:57 pm
- Bugscope Teamgreat
- Bugscope TeamGreat! We are ready as we will be.
- Bugscope TeamAnnie, our entomologist, should be on soon as well.
- Bugscope Teambernie: Will you be able to use Firefox again today instead of Internet Explorer?
- Bugscope Teamare any of the students going to login separately on other computers?
- Bugscope TeamBe sure to go to all the presets today. We will ensure that you have control of the microscope.
- Bugscope TeamOkay ocelli are thought not to be able to distinguish direction but rather have to do with recognizing the horizon.
- Bugscope Teamben wonders what happened to scott's last 't'
- TeacherI will make sure we use all the presets. These girls are a tad more science savy
- Bugscope TeamI was saving it to log into another computer.
- Bugscope TeamAnd then I didn't.
- Bugscope Teamwhat about using firefox, bernie? you'll like it much better!
- 4:02 pm
- Teacherhi im vonquella what am i looking at
- Bugscope TeamThis is the back of the head of a fruit fly, Vonquella.
- Bugscope TeamYou can see the compound eye, and one of the antennae, and the ocelli.
- TeacherI THOUGHT IT WAS SOME KIND OF INSECT
- Bugscope TeamOcelli are like eyes.
- Bugscope TeamA fruit fly is an insect for sure.
- StudentScot
- Bugscope TeamBe sure to change the mag if you want.
- Bugscope TeamHello QB.
- Bugscope Teamalso, antennae on an insect are things they use to probe the world around them. not the ones you use for your TV
- TeacherHi my name is Dionna
- Bugscope TeamHi Dionna!
- Bugscope TeamHi Dionna. Welcome to bugscope.
- Bugscope TeamPlease try changing to a new preset or a new magnification.
- TeacherSo what is this anyway?
- StudentHow old are you Scot
- Bugscope TeamThis is the head of a fruit fly,.
- Bugscope TeamThe back of the head of a fruit fly.
- Bugscope TeamYou can see the part in the middle, low down, is the compound eye -- one of them.
- StudentI don't get it??
Bugscope Teamwe're looking at the insects as if they were about 200x larger than they really are. thus, this fruit fly's head is filling the whole picture here. if we move to the lower right we'll see more of its body
- Studenthi
- Bugscope TeamThe compound eye has lots of individual facets called ommatidia.
- Bugscope Teamdecrease the magnification and you might see the bug better
- StudentWho is Bug Girl
- 4:07 pm
- Bugscope TeamPlease try another preset or change the magnification. This could be dynamic.
- Studentbria
- Bugscope TeamHi Bria.
- StudentHEY THIS IS VONQUELLA AGAIN
- Bugscope TeamOh Yeah Hi Vonquella!
- StudentI didn't know that???
- StudentHI SCOT
- Studentwhat is your faviorte
- Bugscope TeamAnd DeeDee.
- Studentthere are other girls on here to Scot, this is DeeDee
- Bugscope TeamHello all
- Bugscope TeamYour favorite insect or arthropod?
- Bugscope TeamHi Annie!
- StudentI WAS JUST TELLING WAT I THOUGHT IT WAS
- StudentWhat college do you go to Scot?
- Bugscope TeamI used to know a girl named DeeDee in high school. I think her name for real was Delores.
- Studenti
- Studenthi
- Bugscope TeamThis is the University of Illinois. But I went to the University of Kansas.
- StudentOH HOW DID U GET SCOT THEN
- Bugscope Team'fancy
- Bugscope TeamWhere's Bernie?
- Bugscope TeamHmm
- Bugscope Teamthat didn't work
- StudentSHE IS GETTIN SUM ONE SET UP
- Bugscope TeamCool, thanks Quella.
- StudentHOW CAN WE LOOK AT A DIFFRENT PIC
- Bugscope TeamYeah I think that is a good idea...
- Bugscope TeamI think they estimate 400 million years...does that seem reasonab;le?
- StudentHi it is bernie, I have quite a few girls on laptops now
- Bugscope Teamreasonable, that is
- 4:12 pm
- StudentChanging the presets
- Bugscope TeamThis is part of a ladybug's chemosensory palp.
- Bugscope TeamGive DeeDee control.
- Bugscope Teamoop you already did -- thanks
- StudentI like lady bugs
- Bugscope TeamDeeDee (bernie) i just gave you control of the scope, try and change a preset
- Bugscope TeamNow DeeDee you can drive the 'scope using the controls on the right.
- StudentBernie again, please ask them questions about their science knowledge
- StudentHey Alex
- Bugscope TeamYo Queeb Bee
- StudentWhat is a butterfly?
- Bugscope Teama butterfly is an insect in the order Lepidoptera
- StudentWAT A SLOW QUESTION
- StudentWhat is a moth???
- StudentWAT IS THIS PIC
- Bugscope TeamWith long siphoning mouthparts
- Bugscope TeamI like that -- a slow question.
- StudentThankyou!!
- Bugscope Teamthe difference between moths and butterflies is somewhat open to debate. Generally moths fly during the night, and butterflies during the day
- StudentI'm not sure?
- StudentSUM ONE KNO WAT THIS PIC IS
- Bugscope TeamThis is part of a ladybug's mouthparts.
- StudentO
- Bugscope TeamListen to Annie 'cause she knows.
- Bugscope Team;)
- Bugscope TeamThis thing that looks like a vacuum cleaner nozzle is part of what the ladybug uses to taste the air.
- Bugscope TeamBut, again, it is somwhat open to debate
- StudentQuella do u know alot about insects?
- StudentYEAH SUM WAT WHY? GOT A QUESTION
- StudentHow long does it take for a butterfly to emerge?
Bugscope TeamIt depends upon the butterfly
- 4:17 pm
- Studentare there ever insects living on insects
- StudentWAT IS THAT
- StudentI don't know
- StudentANYONE SUM ONE
- Bugscope TeamSome have several generations each year, some have only one
- Bugscope TeamThere is a mite, which is not an insect but an arrthropod, on an ant here.
- Bugscope TeamQuella this now is part of the claw of a ladybug.
- Bugscope Teamin the case of muliple generations, a butterfly can complete its life cycle: egg-adult in a month or so
- StudentThis is DeeDee again, how long did it take you to learn all about this?
Bugscope Teamme?
- Bugscope TeamThe little white things are called brochosomes, and they come from leafhoppers, which the ladybug has probably been eating.
- StudentBRE ASKED IF ANYONE WANT TO ANSWER HER QUESTION
- Studentwhat % of insects can fly
- Bugscope Teamif you work with this stuff you pick it up pretty quick.
- Bugscope TeamLadybugs will eat other bugs.
- Bugscope TeamThat is the answer to Bre's question.
- StudentLIKE WHAT???
- Bugscope TeamYes, ladybugs each other aphids or scale insects, which are insects found on leaves and grass and other things in a garden
- Bugscope TeamLike lefhoppers, for one.
- StudentWhy do ladybugs eat each other sometimes?
- Bugscope Teamleafhoppers
- StudentWAT IS THAT
- Studentwhat yall in school for
- Studentthanks
- StudentDoes anyone like worms?
- Studentwhat is the strongest insect on earth
- StudentA LEFHOPPER
- StudentNO
- Bugscope TeamNo one likes worms.
- StudentWHY
- Bugscope TeamQuella I am sorry I misspelled leafhopper.
- Student I ate one
- StudentNASTY
- Studentwhy do mosquitoe bites itch
Bugscope TeamThey itche because the mosquito insects an enzyme into your skin when they bite you (to keep your blood from clotting). Some people are allergic to that enzyme
- Bugscope TeamThere used to be a rumor that Wendy's sold wormburgers.
- Studentlol
- Studentthatz nasty
- StudentBecause we need to learn?
- 4:22 pm
- StudentI KNOW BUT I'T STILL NASTY
- Studentwhat u wont to be when u finish school
- Studentget over it
- StudentDO ANYBODY KNOW HOW LONG DID ANY BUG LIVED????
Bugscope TeamI am not sure if I understand the question, but some insects can remain dormant for up to 20 years
- StudentWAT IS THIS PICTURE OF
Bugscope Teamthis is cool, it's the EYE of a fly!
- Bugscope TeamI dunno what I want to be when I am finished at school. I know I want to live somewhere warm and study beetles.
- Studentwhat is yall fav type of bugs or athropods
- StudentREALLY
- Bugscope TeamBugs live different lengths of time. It seems most of them last only one season.
- Studentthats cool
- Studentwhat bug lives the longest
- Bugscope TeamI like mites. And ticks. I like the critters that are specialized as opposed to, like, roaches.
- StudentSo how can you see all of these things up close and still beable to take a picture?
- StudentWhat are you going to collage to be?
- StudentWAT KIND OF BUG EYE ?
- Bugscope TeamMy favorite insects are longhorned beetles: that is what I study
- Bugscope TeamI am in graduate school working on my PhD in entomology--which is the study of insects
- StudentWHAT ABOUT EVERY ONE ELSE. WHAT DO YALL GON DO WHEN YALL FINISH SCHOOL??????
- Studentroaches n beetles are both disgusting
- Bugscope Teambeetles are NOT disgusting!
- StudentWHAT IS THE STRONGEST INSECT ON EARTH
- Bugscope Teamroaches are disgusting, beetles not so much
- StudentMY FAVORITE INSECT IS A BUTTERFLY BUT I'M STILL SCARED OF I'T. LOL
- Bugscope Teamhere is a beutiful picture of a beetle: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Colorado_potato_beetle.jpg
- Studentwhere are most bugs found
- StudentI LIKE SNAKE ANYONE ELSE LIKE SNAKES
- Bugscope Teamnot sure about the strongest insect -- you mean for its size?
- Bugscope Teami'm married to a snake
- Studentwhat was the first type of bug that live on this planet
- Bugscope Teamso i guess i like them.
- Bugscope TeamBugs are almost everywhere on earth, on the terrestrial parts.
- 4:28 pm
- StudentI LOVE SNAKES SENSE BERNIE LET ME MEET HERS
- Bugscope TeamAlex where in the world did that statement come from?
- Bugscope TeamThat is a hard question: there are more ants than any other animal on the planet--so in terms of numbers, you could say that ants are the strongest insects. Ants can also lift many times more than their body weight. I am going with ants
- Bugscope Teamsomeone asked if we liked snakes
- StudentTHAT'S NOT COOL TO BE MARRIED TO A SNAKE!!!!
- Studenthow long can a roach live with its head cut off?
- Studentcan a butterfly live without wingz
- Bugscope TeamThis is the eye of a housefly.
- Bugscope TeamNo one knows what the first insect to live on the earth was. The oldest fossil is of a little springtail-type insect that was found in the Rhynie Chert
- Bugscope TeamI kept a roach alive without its head for almost a whole week
- Bugscope TeamI'm not sure if it]s living without its head. It is definitely pilotless.
- Studentflays
- StudentWHAT R U GUYS TALKING ABOUT NOW
- StudentYou call them Beetles BEUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Bugscope Teamwhere is the rhynie chert annie?
- Bugscope TeamI am trying to figure that out myself Quella.
- Studentis there any insects in antartica
Bugscope TeamYes, there are flies, beetles, springtails
- Bugscope TeamThe Rhynie Chert is in Canada---right?
- Bugscope TeamSome beetles are pretty cool looking.
- StudentTHAT PICTURE IS NASTY
- Studentdo we use insects in medicine
Bugscope TeamWe do use insects in medicine. Medical maggots and leeches are both gaining popularity in cleaning infected wounds.
- Studenti KNOW!!!!!!!
- StudentWHAT IS THIS PICTURE OF ?
- StudentIS IT FUN BEING IN COLLEGE!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Bugscope TeamThis, now, is a spine on the leeg of a beetle.
- Studentwhat is a RHYNIE CHERT
Bugscope TeamThe Rhynie Chert is a famous very old fossil bed in Canada (I think it is in Canada) I should check. I will check
- Bugscope TeamOh yeah. College can be too much fun.
- Student?
- StudentIt is amazing the way you can look at all these things up close!!!!!!!!!
- 4:33 pm
- StudentWHY DO YOU SAY THAT!!!!?????
- Bugscope Teambeing in college is fun. you are on your own for the first time AND you are learning interesting things.
- StudentLIKE WHAT!!!!!!????!!!!!
- Bugscope TeamIf you go to college and go wild 'cause you're free of supervision you can have too much fun and not study.
- Studenthow do you get the medicine from the insects
Bugscope TeamThe maggots are actually placed on/in an infected wound. The maggots then eat away all the infected, dead flesh from the wound. THis helps the wound to heal
- Studenthello
- StudentCAN AN INSECT KILL A PERSON OR HUGE ANIMALS
- Bugscope Teami checked annie, the rhynie chert is in scotland: http://www.abdn.ac.uk/rhynie/what.htm
- Bugscope Teamgrind them up and eat them
- Bugscope Teamif that's the same rhyine chert?
- Bugscope Teamthink about those Africanized honeybees -- the killer bees.
- Bugscope TeamThey can collectively sting people to death.
- StudentCAN BEES REALLY KILL U
Bugscope TeamYes, especially if you are allergic to insect bites/venom in general. Mostly though, they are just painful. The problem with the african bees, as Scot said, si that they swarm you!
- Studentuuuuuuuuuuuuggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh
- Bugscope TeamGAH! Scotland. I was wrong
- StudentHow long can a scorpion live w/out food
Bugscope TeamScorpions can probably live 3-6 months without food. That is entirely speculative
- StudentARE ANY OF YOU GUYS MARRIED???????
- Bugscope TeamUmm no one is married, of us, except Ben.
- Bugscope TeamReally?
- Bugscope TeamOh Daniel is married, he's here now.
- Bugscope TeamSorry Holmes.
- Bugscope Team:-)
- Bugscope TeamScott is married to his work.
- Bugscope Teamouch
- StudentLOL
- 4:38 pm
- Studentloo
- Bugscope TeamYeah if I was married I wouldn't be doing this?
- Bugscope TeamSorry I'm late, gang. The advisor & post doc wanted to talk with me...
- StudentWHAT IS LOO MEAN?????????
- StudentWHAT YOUE NAME
- Bugscope TeamLOL = lot's of laughs
- StudentYOU FUNNY
- Studentnot much
- StudentLAUGH OUT LOUD
- Studentwhat is the strongestinsect?
Bugscope TeamI think I would say that ants are the strongest insects beucase there are more of them than any other type of insect and because they can pick up things that weigh many times more than they themselves do
- Bugscope TeamWe had a praying mantis as a pet once, and it went several weeks without eating. Of course it was senescing at the time (slowly dying at the end of the season) so it may not have wanted to eat too much at the time.
- Bugscope TeamLoo means toilet to Brits.
- Studentwhat kind of music do you guyz like
- StudentWHY DIDN'T YOU GUYS WRITE IYONNA?????????
Bugscope TeamSomeone's answering iyonna now...
- StudentDoes a stink bug rerally stink?
Bugscope TeamYes, some of them really do stink. A bad, pooty-kind of stink. They usually don't do that unless you pester them though.
- Bugscope TeamAnnie thinks ants are the strongest.
- StudentCAN U LIVE OF BUS
- StudentI MEAN BUGS
- Bugscope TeamI like Rachael Yamagata right now, for music.
- Studentdo people really eat bugs
- Bugscope TeamSome people eat bugs, especially larvae.
- StudentDo dragonflies eat other bugs? What kind do they eat, if they do?
Bugscope TeamYes. I'll talk about the young ones (ack! I'm drawing a blank on what the immature dragonflies are called Annie!): they will eat just about anything in the water, including entire tadpoles. I accidentally had one in a tank with about 50 toad tadpoles and over one weekend the dragonfly nymph ate the whole thing. (That's the word I was looking for.)
- Bugscope TeamNo one there has control now.
- Studentwhat is the strangest insect
Bugscope TeamThe strangest insects are those that have very complicated parasitic life cycles
- Bugscope TeamThis is a mite hanging out on the abdomen of a flying ant.
- Bugscope TeamEarlier I insinuated that leeches are insects....they are not insects and I know that....
- Studentwhat is the largest insect
- Bugscope TeamThis is a neat picture, a small mite on another bug!
- 4:43 pm
- Bugscope TeamGoliath Beetle is one of the biggest insects, the size of your fist.
- StudentIYONNA SAID DON'T TALK TO HER....
- Studentare insects reluted to dinosaurs
- Studenthi it is bernie, moving the preset.
- Bugscope TeamSo like Iyonna is upset?
- StudentAAAAA YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
- Studentwhat about an arthropod what is the largest one?
- StudentNone of the girls are upset. They are having a lot of fun
- Studentare you a scientist?
- Bugscope TeamCrabs, king crabs.
- Bugscope TeamBIg arthropods.
- StudentSHE DIDN'T WRITE WHAT YALL THOUGHT SHE SAID................
- Bugscope Teamah, yes, good call scot, king crabs are very big
- Bugscope TeamI am a graduate student...studying to get a PhD
- Studentare any of you going to be scietist
- StudentWHAT DO A PHD DEGREE IS
Bugscope TeamSorry QB: I kind of answered your question in with the others. A PhD is the highest degree you can get in college (other than an MD - medical doctor), and it shows that you really know something and can do original, unique research in your field of interest. They award PhDs in just about every subject you can think of. But what you need, QB, is simply an interest in something so strong you just want to work with it and study it all the time. If that makes you happy, then a PhD may be good for you.
- Studentyou mean scientist bug girl
- Bugscope TeamI too am a graduate student...studying to get a PhD
- Student im thinking about it
- Studentyes
- Bugscope Teamwhat do you want to study bug girl?
- Student???????????????????????
- Bugscope TeamA PhD is what they call a "doctorate of philosophy" which is supposed to mean you did lots of hard work and research and stuff. Really PhD stands for "Piled Higher and Deeper", which is how you really get ahead in this world! (Just kidding!) (Sort of!) :-)
- Student i dont know im only 13
- Bugscope Teamthat's okay. what is your favorite subject in school?
- StudentWhat is the deadliest insect?
- StudentI DONT GET IT???????????????
- 4:48 pm
- Bugscope TeamBug Girl: You have plenty of time to make up your mind. But think about what you really like to do, what interests you and can make you feel proud at the end of the day that you did something good for others and for yourself. If you can find that, and pursue it like crazy, then you'll be pretty satisified with your life!
- Bugscope TeamMosquitos can be deadly if they have a disease that kills you.
- Bugscope TeamThe deadliest insect is the mosquito---they vector diseases that have killed more people that any other animal in the world
- Bugscope TeamQueen Bee what is the deal?
- Studentmath is ok
- StudentHELLO IS ANY GOING TO ANSWER MEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Bugscope Teamcool!
- Bugscope Teami like math too.
- Studentno
- StudentDo you know what an earwig is? we have them in our house
- Studentwhat is the smallest insect?
- Bugscope TeamQB Daniel had answered you about the PhD. Was that it?
- StudentSo do you think that getting a phd will be hard for you Daniel?
- Bugscope Teammath is interesting because with mathematical logic you can actually prove things in ways that no other scientific field can prove!
- Studentmmmmmm
- Bugscope TeamWe like earwigs here because they almost always have mites, like the one in the image above.
- StudentMY FAULT PUT I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE PILE DEEPER THING???????????????
Bugscope TeamAnd by Piled Higher and Deeper - that is slang for giving a lot of baloney to people until you have them fooled into thinking you really know something! :-)
- StudentDo earwigs really crawl in your ears?
- Bugscope TeamDaniel likes that kind of stuff. He is a perennial student.
- StudentWhy do bees sting
- Bugscope TeamThey could crawl in your ears but they don't on purpose.
- StudentTHAT IS NASTY
- Bugscope Teambees sting to defend themselves
- StudentWHO LIKES WORMS
- Bugscope TeamBees sting to protect themselves and their nests.
- Bugscope TeamD'Oh.
- StudentWHAT IS A PERENNIAL STUDENT?????????????
- Bugscope TeamLike a perennial flower, it always comes back up.
- StudentOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Bugscope Team(Of course you realize that "baloney" is just another word for something that male cows produce after eating a lot of grass. ;-)
- Studentoooh!
- StudentWHERE CAN U FIND THOSE FLOWERS
- StudentHow do the bugs ?
- 4:53 pm
- StudentDo insects produce toxic chemicals
- Bugscope TeamTulips are like that, daffodils, iris...
- StudentHow do the bugs that show up in the flour sack get there?
Bugscope TeamA lot of them got there in the factory that bagged the flour. They get in as tiny little eggs that you'd normally just bake right into your cookies without even noticing. But if the flour sits around long enough, the insects will hatch out. They can also get into the flour by eating a hole right through the bag! I've had bugs do this in my pantry - eat holes right through 1/8-inch solid cardboard to get into something.
- Bugscope TeamYes insects can produce toxic chemicals, and bad smelling chemicals.
- StudentAre ticks out? Are they in the woods again?
- Bugscope TeamI think they start as eggs or larvae and then turn into beetls in the flour sack.
- StudentWHAT ARE IRIS
- StudentDo mosquitoes relyal
- Bugscope TeamIris are these cool flowers that have flattened leaves that sort of fan out together.
- StudentWHY DO ANTS GO UNDER THINGS AND ROUND UP??????????????
- Bugscope TeamTribolium casteneum
- Bugscope TeamIs anyone still driving around?
- Bugscope TeamTribolium anyway.
- StudentWHAT IS TRIBOLIUM CASTENEUM???????????
Bugscope TeamThe red flour beetle
- Bugscope TeamDeeDee has control.
- Bugscope TeamI have been driving sometimes.
- Bugscope TeamI think I misspelled the species name.
- StudentYOU CAN'T DRIVE???????????
- Bugscope TeamDeeDee, ya need to put the petal to the metal! :-)
- StudentHi bernie it is bernie, we seemed to have locked up on our screen. I think the museum admin locked us out. They will do the sometimes when the museum is closing.
- Bugscope Teampedal to the meddle
- StudentTHANKS ANNIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Bugscope TeamWhoops. There I go, thinking about flowers again. :-)
- Bugscope TeamDaniel is going to get his PhD in, like, flowerology.
- Studentbernie again, I took over her control i'm trying to unlock our screen
- Studenthow big is the biggest species of ant?
Bugscope TeamThey are about an inch and a half long
- 4:59 pm
- Bugscope TeamThey are called dinosaur ants!
- StudentYOU CAN'T DRIVE EITHER SCOT YOU WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT WITH ME IN YOU HIT MY TAIL GATE BUT WE SURVIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Studentbernie again, I hope you are enjoying our sarah scott girls! They are all Super Stars!
- Studenthow many species of ants are there?
- Bugscope TeamOh Boy.
- Bugscope TeamI can look it up
- Bugscope TeamYeah I think you are right.
- StudentJUST PLAYING!!!!!!!!!!!!! SCOT............
- Bugscope TeamDeeDee (bernie) from our end it looks like you still have control, so it should work unless there is something wrong.
- Bugscope TeamQB you are cool.
- StudentIN YOU KNOW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Bugscope TeamI know it.
- Studentnot
- Bugscope Team9500 species of ants
- Bugscope TeamHA! good one bug girl
- Bugscope TeamUh oh a little dissent in the ranks.
- Studentbernie again, I don't know what happened on our end. My screen for the preset is dark, though I can still drive with no pic
- Bugscope Teamone word dissent
- StudentBUG GIRL WHAT DIDYOU SAY????????????
- Bugscope TeamCan you reload the page?
- Bugscope Teamhmm, try refreshing the screen DeeDee
- Bugscope Teamduh I mean what Alex said
- Studentlet me try
- Bugscope TeamDeeDee, hit F5, or click on the refresh button in your browser
- Bugscope Teamwe lost DeeDee
- Studentyou read it
- Bugscope TeamMeanwhile QB is thrashing Bug Girl.
- Bugscope Teambernie, i just gave you control, can you drive the scope now?
- Studentlooks like it is working
- StudentNO YOU NEED YO REFRESH YO MEMORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Bugscope Teamyay!
- Bugscope TeamBug Girl is, like, concise.
- StudentAnnie how do you know that there's 9500 species of ants?
- Bugscope Teamyes, and she likes math. she is way cool.
- Bugscope TeamI looked it up in a book that I have---the Evolution of the Insects
- Bugscope TeamShe just knows that stuff because she studies it all the time.
- 5:04 pm
- Bugscope TeamBen and Cathy are on.
- StudentNo thrashing each other here! It's all friendly
- Bugscope Teamiyonna, you can also find information like that on the internet. allthough it's usually more reliable when you find it in an authored book
- Bugscope Teamam not
- Bugscope TeamGood I am glad to hear that Iyonna.
- StudentI KNOW BUT I STILL WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU SAID?????????
- Bugscope Teamhaha, I don't know that off hand...I don't know much about ants
- StudentWHO ON HERE IS MARRIED WIT KIDS OR ONE OF THE 2
- StudentI'T MIGHT SOUND LIKE A DUM QUESTION BUT WHAT DO CONCISE MEAN?????????????????
Bugscope TeamConcise means short and to the point.
- Bugscope Teamconcise means right to the point
- StudentTHANKS
- Bugscope Teamconcise means acurate, presise, to the point, right on, spot on,
- Bugscope Teami might have mispelled like 2-3 words in that last sentence
- Bugscope Teamsorry
- Bugscope TeamAlex like it's a big deal Dude.
- StudentTHANKS EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOR GIVING ME THE RIGHT ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!
- Bugscope TeamAnd the grammar was, like, really, like, bad, man. :-)
- Bugscope TeamBut Cathy is keeping track, like one of Santa's spies.
- Bugscope Teamhee hee
- Bugscope Teamyep
- Bugscope TeamActually, punctuation.
- StudentHEAR FROM YA SOON HOPE
- Bugscope Team'?
- Studentwe have to go see you guys next time
- Bugscope TeamI insinuated that leeches were insects earlier...remember.
- Bugscope TeamThank You! We will be glad to connect again.
- Studentg2g bye happy easter thanks
- Bugscope TeamWhoops. Sorry. Fingers went crackerdog there.
- Bugscope TeamThis was fun.
- StudentWe have to start closing up for the day so everyone will be thanking you!
- Bugscope Teamhope you had a good learning experience!
- Bugscope TeamLots of intelligent questions today..I like it!
- StudentThey will be sending you a card in the mail next week!
- 5:09 pm
- Bugscope TeamBYE EVERYONE!
- Bugscope Teamoh nice we will be looking forward to getting it
- Bugscope Teamthanks bernie, great job this time.

- Bugscope Teamwhoa, what's that
- Bugscope Teamben is driving like mad
- Studenttiff #1 said bye
- Bugscope TeamBen is testing a slow connection from his house to see how it goes.
- Bugscope Teambye bye tiff #1!
- Bugscope TeamThanks Annie!
- Bugscope TeamDid you eat all of that pasta?
- Bugscope TeamBye Annie. Get your homework done.
- 5:14 pm
- Bugscope Teambye annie have fun
- Bugscope Teamthnks annie, you were great at answer those tough bug questions
- Bugscope TeamYes...every bite!!! Gwaa hah hahaha
- Bugscope Teamlater annie
- Bugscope Teambye guys ;)
- Bugscope Teamalright now have a good trip Annie
- Bugscope Teaminteresting, a chat repeat of TWO lines. never seen that before.
- Bugscope TeamI will for sure
- Bugscope Team;)
- Bugscope Teambye really
- Bugscope Teamcause it doesn't coat well?
- Bugscope Teamok. i'm going to loadup FF to compare
- Bugscope Teami tried to help it from charging by painting the edges
- Bugscope TeamYeah because it doesn't connect to the substrate so the charge cannot run to ground.
- Bugscope Teamthat'll do it
- Bugscope Teamno ground and your charge goes haywire
- Bugscope TeamThe best places to try imaging are at the edges, as Cathy says...
- 5:19 pm
- Bugscope TeamCathy so like what is for dinner over there?
- Bugscope TeamFlying mite.
- Bugscope TeamOn a flying any belly.
- Bugscope Teamant
- Bugscope Teami'm showing kate an ant rear
- Bugscope Teamgreat image ben

- Bugscope Teamkate says it's disgusting
- Bugscope TeamWelcome to Dingleberryton.
- Bugscope Teamit is! that's why it's great.
- Bugscope Teamheh
- Bugscope Teambooty
- Bugscope TeamWHAT IS DINGLEBERRY?????????????????????
- Bugscope TeamIOTW IOTW IOTW IOTW
- Bugscope TeamDaniel tjhose guys about the tours are out of the blue somehow
- Bugscope Teamwe did not schedule a tour on the 16th, and we wouldn't
- Bugscope Teamben should do a bugscope sessions, he acutally MOVES the scope around
- Bugscope Teammaybe they're thinking of MRL or something
- Bugscope TeamIt's like he's got a TV remote control flipping through the channels.
- Bugscope TeamI don't know what to think about that guy. First he says he wants a tour with me to talk about what sounds suspiciously like microscopy, then he ignores what I wrote not once but twice, then claims that his "professor" has a tour already scheduled.
- Bugscope Team weird
- Bugscope Teamwell, i'd say IE7 at home on slow DSL (1.5Mb) is usable. It's not great, and it's not as good as FF on the same connection, but it works.
- Bugscope TeamWell I should have written him but I don't like the idea of custom individual tours, and call me on my cell
- Bugscope Teamcool.
- Bugscope TeamI should clarify that 'usable' means it really does work as opposed to previous options. And without any hassle.
- Bugscope TeamHi guys
- Bugscope TeamLooked like you were bookin' along.
- Bugscope TeamThe guy called you on your cell?
- Bugscope TeamNo, he told us to call him on his cell to get the tour arranged asap.
- Bugscope TeamNo he wanted us to call him.
- 5:24 pm
- Bugscope TeamChas doesn't show up in the admin list on my IE
- Bugscope TeamLike this is a boutique.
- Bugscope Teamheh
- Bugscope TeamNice dups on the chat lines.
- Bugscope Teamyeah, i'll respond to the guy tomorrow and try and get it straightened out
- Bugscope Teamtry refreshing?
- Bugscope TeamTry watermelon.
- Bugscope Teamso chas, IE at home does work. the faux video is clunky, but it works. i can drive around. FF is much smoother at home.
- Bugscope Team(as expected)
- Bugscope Teamyah! gimme gimme
- Bugscope TeamI haven't seen refreshing problems in FF/SF since I made a couple changes, but the other day it looked like scott logged into IE6 was behind on the presets
- Bugscope Teamso maybe I need to look into that
- Bugscope TeamRefresh didn't fix it
- Bugscope Teamyup, i think IE is done!
- Bugscope Teamwell, except for this not showing up in the list thing :)
- Bugscope Teamif only the world could be done with IE....
- Bugscope Teamagreed
- Bugscope Teamok, i'm outta herez. thankz for letting me drive.
- Bugscope Teamlater ben
- Bugscope TeamCool.
- Bugscope TeamI'm out too. gotta cram from a quiz
- Bugscope Teamcramming isnt good! bad chas
- Bugscope Teamshutdown and vent? whoa, scope just ffreeked
- Bugscope Teambeautiful presets.
- Bugscope Teamwe may have a problem
- Bugscope Teamscope just vented and no one touched it
- Bugscope Teamcramming is ok if it means he spent more time on BUGSCOPE! :)
- Bugscope Teamhuh? what happened?
- Bugscope Teamno!
- Bugscope TeamPCLB error
- Bugscope TeamPLCB
- Bugscope Team*sigh*
- Bugscope Teamoh yah. dupe chat lines on FF
- Bugscope Teamtry pressing the vacuum button
- Bugscope Teambut it looks like it's just my chat lines if I typed them in IE
- Bugscope TeamTEST99
- Bugscope TeamMaybe we should switch to Dyson. A Dyson never loses suction.
- Bugscope Teamscott is here workign on it
- Bugscope Teamhttp://www.johnberman.com/pics/funny/not_this_shit_again.jpg
- Bugscope Teamhmm, didn't repeat itself.
- 5:30 pm
- Bugscope Teamwell, good luck with the scope
- Bugscope Teamdid scott's personal EM field make the scope go down this time?
- Bugscope Teamwater temp too high
- Bugscope TeamChime in with how frequently you saw duplicate lines. I'll try to track it down. it's hard to replicate
- Bugscope Teamhe's rebooting the pc
- Bugscope TeamIt's his B.O. Disrupts radio waves and radar and such.
- Bugscope Teami saw duplicates twice in the session. i was a very busy session.
- Bugscope TeamChas, I saw it happen at least four times from 4:30 until now.
- Bugscope Teami didn't get any duplicates this time
- Bugscope Teamall right well, Chas goood luck with your cramming, and Alex tell Scott to email me if anything 'new' happens
- Bugscope Team6478-6480, 6298-6299, 6296-6297. Lots of instances of missing numbered lines.
- Bugscope TeamI thought there was another instance of a duplication but I must have scrolled by it.
- 5:38 pm
- Bugscope Team6423 skips to 6425 with no intervening private chat line. I don't know when you assign the line numbers, but most of them do check out ok if you insert the line number for private chat lines.
- Bugscope Teamhmm... I'll check it out later then. thanks for pointing those out
- Bugscope Teamadios all
- Bugscope TeamAlso, 6362 skips to 6365, 6348 to 6350, 6288 to 6290. I could probably find more.
