Project

Title Square of Life
Insects blister beetle, pseudo scorpion, moths, butterflies
Description My class is participating in an online collaborative project through the Center for Innovation in Engineering and Science Education called Square of Life. We are collecting data about what is found in our local environment and sharing it with other classes in the United States, Italy, and Australia. We are studying the Arizona Science Standards about insects. We will not only use the information gathered from Bugscope to better our understandings of insects, but to also share it with our partner class in this project based learning project. In participating in the Bugscope project I am becoming a leader not only in my school, but also in my district in the area of technology integration. I am working with our instructional projects facilitator in my district to successfully complete both projects. She then plans to use both of these projects in training teachers in integrating technology. I feel that my class would be a great class to use as an example due to the diversity of learners in my classroom, both ethnicaly and academically. My classroom has a wide range of learning abilities and styles, as well as a good mix of students living in our suburban subdivisions and rural areas.
