Title Insect Collection
Insects Depends on what the kids get; grasshoppers, butterflies, bees, ants, beetles
Description Bugscope would be part of a unit on insects in an upper level Zoology class. It is a heterogenously grouped class and therefore, has students of all academic levels. The classes are pretty equal in terms of gender, but there is diversity in socioeconomic levels. There is not much diversity in terms of race in Vermont. In the insect unit, they do a collection and study forensic entomology. Identification of insects is an important application of this field and Bugscope would help them in seeing the details of the insects. I always stress in class how much is around us that we cannot see with the naked eye and this woulod provide a venue for that teaching strategy. Last year we made a display of the insect pictures for others to view.

Miscellaneous

Where did you hear
about Bugscope?
Initially, I heard about it from the NEA Magazine...but I had the opportunity to do it last year and it was a great experience...I would love to be able to do it again.
