Title There are Bugs Among us!
Insects house fly, flea, dust mites, cockroaches, crickets
Description I teach a small, rural Appalachian elemetary school in southern Ohio. I am the only 6th grade Science teacher in our district and I see 100 students each day. The students are from all walks of life, from two parent homes with highly education professionally employed parents, to farm families (primarily tobacco farms) trying to offer a better way of life to their children through education, to children being raised by single parents and many being raised by grandparents due to absent parents. We have been told the the socioeconomic demographics of our school mirror that of an school found in larger inner-city areas. Our current class has a high percentage of boys in it 2:1, and is predominately white in race, although we have a high number of mixed race children in this class. I find the children in my classrooms want to learn and love to use technology. Our school is fortunate to have a highly motivated technology department that works hard to secure grants for professional development, equipment and instructional time for the students.
