Title | Insects of the Gila River Reservation |
Insects | tarantula, desert ants, desert bees, scorpions, black widows |
Description | We are an agricultural based school trying to preserve/revitalize this area. Very few insect studies have been done on this region. It is reported by a university that the desert bees were declining in population and may be coming back. The children here tend to see these insects as toys to torment. We need to begin cataloging the local species, determining their needs, structure, effects on the environment and their role in the ecosystem. |
