Description | At the beginning of each year I complete a six to seven week project on insects with my first grade students. We do some field observations at school and at the local Audobon Sanctuary. Identification of insects and knowledge of body parts, life stages and habitats are the main areas which are explored in this unit. We have created our own imaginary insects using plaster. The children then gave them their own names and described body parts, habitat and food sources. I'd be interested in how you see your project complimenting what we do. Is it applicable to first grade children? |
