The Project

Project Title Using remote technologies in the elementary classroom
Insects To Study bees, flies and spiders
Project Description Preservice teachers will examine bees, flies and spiders to compare and contrast these specific insects' structures and functions. The session will model the authentic use of a scientific tool (ESEM) to stimulate inquiry in the elementary classroom. We will make connections to CA state science standards and to Next Generation Science Standards. Bugscope is also useful for applications to art and math lessons. We will tie the information to FOSS insect unit (Lawrence Hall of Science) and to other literature on insects. We always end by reading an excerpt from Amy Stewart's book, Wicked Bugs.

Where did you hear about Bugscope? I have collaborated with the Bugscope folks since 2000! A GREAT tool - consider contacting me if you are interested in ways to use Bugscope across the curriculum.
