Project Title Insect Adaptations
Insects To Study < LEFT BLANK >
Project Description IN 6th Grade science, students examine the role of insects in the ecosystem. This in-depth study includes: the physical characteristics of insects (including a comparison with arachnids and other arthropods), the various types of metatmorphosis, the roles insects play in an ecosystem and the adaptations that facilitate these roles. During several lab activities students exmaine insect specimens with dissecting microscopes. Bugscope would provide an excellent opportunity to see many of the structures we study (wings, mouth parts, etc) in amazing detail as well as give student an opportunity to ask questions. In addition, we do a microscope unit and study the atom later in the year; the Bugscope project ties in well with both units as we discuss different types of microscopes and how they work.

Where did you hear about Bugscope? Originally through Kelly VIgnale (Lower School Science teacher at WT) who read an article in Science & Children. We both participated in the Bugscope porkect last year.
