The Project

Project Title Bug Trackers
Insects To Study < LEFT BLANK >
Project Description This session would be aimed at elementary GT students. At this age, students have a keen interest in science, and the idea of exposing rural youth to high-tech science equipment is very exciting. The plan is to begin a unit on environmental science/biology. During this unit, we would preteach objectives relating to our Bugscope session. We wold collect our own specimens, as well, and use traditional microscopes to examine them. This would give students a reference for the later bug scope session. In addition, we would like to use the Bug Trackers project to integrate and reinforce STEM concepts. By teaching students to hypothesize, collect data, and revise their theories, you are teaching them to not only be good scientists but also to be thoughtful and reflective thinkers.

Miscellaneous

Where did you hear about Bugscope? I have had this idea bookmarked for years, but this is the first time I am in a position to use it! I think that I originally heard about it at a technology conference.
