The Project

Project Title Every Structure Has A Function
Insects To Study any + mtn. pine beetle
Project Description Bugscope will be used to enhance the study of terrestrial insects. Each fall students collect insects (or something of their choice, leaves, etc.) and we use their collections to study classification. The focus of biodiversity is great, as well, and Bugscope will be used to study the connection between organisms' structures and their various functions. Further, the Bugscope session will help familiarize students with the electron microscope as we'll be study microscopy as well. For example, students will be learning to use binocular scopes and compound microscopes while observing/sketching insects such as mtn. pine beetles (a focus of our fall studies here in Montana).
